POSITION SUMMARY
This position is full time, 40 hours a week. After the applicable waiting period, the individual will be eligible for health benefits.

This position is Essential and is required to report to duty before, during, and immediately after a civil emergency.
Performs labor intensive work and various maintenance and beautification functions for the Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Program (KPSLB). Works events to promote KPSLB initiatives. This will involve a flexible/varied work schedule. Facilitates the development of public trust and confidence in the City. The hours may vary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Keeps the mission, vision and values of the City of Port St. Lucie at the forefront of decision making and actions; builds strategic and collaborative relationships and interacts with others in a way that builds confidence and trust; provides excellent customer service by taking action to accomplish objectives; maintains high levels of work and productivity by generating innovative solutions to work situations.
  • Performs litter control functions, debris pick up, and other maintenance and beautification functions in support of the Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Program.
  • Operates small machinery and hand tools.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on several pieces of equipment.
  • Hauls a variety of material to/from the job site to facilitate completion of assigned projects.
  • May work under the direction of a Crew Leader.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.
  • Additional duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Skill in the operation and preventive maintenance of equipment and related tools.
  • Ability to operate equipment required to perform duties.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor under various weather conditions.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees and the public.
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment required to perform duties.

  • Ability to maintain daily logs of assigned equipment.
  • Ability to drive a golf cart.
  • Ability to follow Public Works Department standard operating procedures to include safety compliance.

  • Ability to establish and maintain the trust and confidence of the department and public.

Education and/or Experience:

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. One (1) year related manual labor experience preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations:

Valid Florida Driver's License and maintenance of clean driving record.
