Job Description
Job Title:
Senior Project Coordinator - Design & Construction
Position Function: The Senior Project Coordinator is responsible for overseeing major construction and remodel projects, providing mentorship to Supervisors of Construction Projects, and ensuring the successful execution of large-scale construction initiatives. This role focuses on strategic oversight and successful implementation of Design and Construction initiatives rather than direct management of employees. This position must maintain working knowledge of all applicable building codes, ADA and 504 regulations, Fire and Life Safety Codes, and District Standards and Specifications.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
1. Mentorship and Guidance:
• Provide mentorship and support to Supervisors of Construction Projects, helping them develop their skills and improve project outcomes.
• Offer expert advice on construction practices, standards and specifications, project management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
• Identify knowledge gaps at the Supervisor level and recommend training or other growth opportunities to fill these gaps.
2. Project Oversight and Coordination:
• Oversee major construction and remodel projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints.
• Collaborate with district administrators and other stakeholders to design and implement building improvements that enhance the learning environment.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, ADA and 504 regulations, and Fire and Life Safety Codes.
• Write and prepare Board of Education (BOE) agenda items related to construction projects or other Design & Construction initiatives.
• Oversee contract administration, ensuring all contractual obligations are met and documented.
3. Strategic Planning:
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate with the Supervisor of Pre-Construction to schedule and prioritize projects.
• Prepare and review project estimates, securing bids from subcontractors and material quotes.
• Ensure project closeout for all construction projects is completed in a timely manner.
• Maintain and report metric and accountability measures for Supervisors of Construction Projects.
• Prepare and present project updates, reports, and documentation as required.
4. SOPs, Standards, and Specifications:
• Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), standards, and specifications for Design and Construction.
5. Capital Forecast Planning and Maintenance:
• Develop and maintain capital forecast plans to ensure long-term financial planning and resource allocation for construction projects.
• Monitor and update capital forecasts to reflect changes in project scope, costs, and timelines.
• Utilize the VFA facility management software to track and manage building conditions, maintenance needs, and capital planning.
• Ensure accurate data entry and reporting within the VFA system to support decision-making and project planning.
6. Team Collaboration:
• Foster a collaborative work environment by encouraging open communication and teamwork among project teams.
• Coordinate with various departments and teams to ensure alignment and successful project execution.
• Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss project progress, address challenges, and share best practices.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.
Additional Duties: Perform other duties as necessary or as required by the department supervisor.
Equipment: Proficiency in using iPads, computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines. Must comply with district guidelines for equipment use.
Travel: Travel between schools and central offices is required.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Attendance at required meetings and in-services.
Daily schedule may fluctuate to accommodate deadlines and delivery of service
Ability to lift 20 to 30 pounds occasionally
Ability to walk long distances and perform computer work for 25-30% of the time

Experience with capital forecast planning and maintenance

Qualification Profile:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Extensive experience in construction and project management.
• Obtain General Contractor's License within 12 months of employment.
