Job Description
Position Summary
The Gas Construction Technician is a position to the Construction and Maintenance Department. The position involves working in a construction crew and performing manual labor to assist the crew in its day-to-day construction and maintenance functions. The individual in this position is expected to learn the Company's distribution system and construction and maintenance procedures.
Primary Position Responsibilities
Works as excavation watcher to assure excavation operator is aware of all utilities and objects that are encountered during excavation by using shovel or other hand digging equipment.
Works as fusion helper to assure all tools and equipment are readily available and in working order for daily operations.
Observes and learns fusion methods by qualified fuser.
Observes and learns excavation practices.
Observes and learns locating requirements.
Assists in jobsite safety and housekeeping of work area and equipment.
Assists in daily maintenance of tools and equipment.
Assists in Hot Tapping and Plugging Operations.
Assists in traffic control.
Uses hand and power tools.
Works as fire watcher during cutting and welding operations.
Mans fire extinguisher when working around live or blowing gas.
Trains to read company maps and understand gas feeds.
Complies with established CoServ safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines including reporting unsafe practices to a supervisor. Complies with established CoServ Information Security Handbook, policies, procedures, and guidelines including reporting suspected information security incidents to Tech Support.
Secondary Position Responsibilities
Receives training as directed by the Construction Supervisor.
Attends regularly scheduled Safety Meetings.
Attends CPR/First Aid Training and other training as required.
Works in construction on call rotation.
Attends CoServ University required training.
Performs other duties and activities as directed.

Position Requirements
Education and Certifications Required
High School Diploma or G.E.D equivalency.
Poly Fusion Certification (within 90 days).
Must have a Class A Commercial Driver's License (within 90 days).
Must be certified as a DOT driver (within 90 days).
Must pass required assigned tasks and training in the Company Operator Qualification Program (within 90 days).

Skills and Abilities Required
Has basic skills in the operations and functions of computers including but not limited to Windows applications, Excel, Word, Outlook, and internet applications.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to effectively interact with Customers, peers, and various levels of management.

Physical Requirements
Performs call out duties.
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
Drives company vehicle.
Operates office equipment such as computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, etc.
Works outdoors 95% of the time in all types of weather and environmental conditions.
Works in potentially hazardous conditions caused by escaping gas in or near the work site.
Works in areas with possible exposure to poison oak, poison ivy, and insect stings.
Other Requirements
Resides within reasonable response time distance (20 minutes) to office in Prosper TX
Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
