JOB TITLE: Shop Foreman FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: General Manager
LOCATION: Holladay, TN
$80K-$90K
SUMMARY:
The Shop Foreman is responsible for managing the shop flow and support a team of Technicians as well as Service Writers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Management:
• Lead employees to meet the department's expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment.
• Provide guidance and direction to all staff members assigned to maintenance of company and customer-owned vehicles and property.
• Determine schedules and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.
• Monitor/manage attendance, absenteeism, overtime, and paid time off approvals.
• Provide effective performance feedback through performance evaluations, recognition, and/or disciplinary action, with the assistance of the General
• Manager and Human Resources, when necessary.
• Work with the General Manager and Human Resources to interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.
• Maintain a clear line of communication to the General Manager and other staff in the maintenance department.
Technical Expertise & Repair:
• Support and guide technicians through repair processes and troubleshooting of complex repairs.
• Perform proficient inspection, diagnosis, and moderately complex repair of assigned vehicles and equipment.
• Assess structural damage and assign needed repairs utilizing the most appropriate method(s).
• Evaluate equipment after repairs, maintenance, or safety checks.
• Inspect the quality of outside/supplier repairs and/or rebuilds.
• Work with equipment vendors to understand the maintenance requirements and capabilities of all equipment.
• Occasionally may perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
Maintenance & Operations:
• Manage the repair and maintenance of company and customer-owned equipment, to include the organization of the yard.
• Perform maintenance-related work as required.
• Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Update, maintain, and keep organized equipment service records in the Karmak system.
• May assist with the creation, updating, and closing of work orders.
Customer & Sales Support:
• Handle driver complaints regarding equipment condition or operation.
• Assist service writers with quotes to customers for repairs to obtain approval to complete the work.
• Assists service writers with billing the repair orders to have proper stories, parts, and labor amounts.
• Work with sales to evaluate vehicle condition at the time of trade.
• Work closely with the sales department to ensure vehicles are prepared and ready to go at delivery time when sold.
Safety & Compliance:
• Promote safety awareness.
• Inspect and monitor work areas to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures, safety rules, and OSHA compliance.
Cost Management & Improvement:
• Contain costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
Other Duties:
• Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Class A CDL license is preferred but not required.
2. Certified welder is preferred but not required.
3. 10+ years' experience in class 8 tractor truck maintenance with background of hydraulics.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of class 8 tractor trailer maintenance.
5. Proficient in electronic diagnostics of EPA 17, 21 & 24 engines.
6. Knowledge of DOT compliance, laws, rules, regulations, and safety is helpful.
7. Knowledge of retail maintenance billing systems.
8. Must be able to navigate a computer independently to include company used software's.
9. Must have Microsoft Office Suite experience.
10. Attention to detail and possess a high level of accuracy.
11. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to be pivotal and remain calm under pressure.
12. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
13. Work may require more than 40 hours per week.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit/stand for most of his/her job duties. There is the need to frequently walk and sit. There will be a great deal of standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, and reaching for some of his/her job duties.
Visual requirements include reading off a computer screen as well as printed materials.
A high degree of dexterity is required due to frequent use of a telephone console.
Verbal and auditory requirements include the ability to communicate clearly over the telephone as well as in person.
There is a moderate level of grasping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects of more than 25 lbs.
