Description of Work

To be eligible for a sign-on bonus, the candidate must not have worked as a probationary, permanent, or time-limited employee in the last 12 months as an employee subject to the State Human Resources Act.
Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor IV, this position will be responsible for performing routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance tasks and repairs for a multi-custody level correctional facility. Position functions at the journey level in the electrical/mechanical trades and at the semi-skilled level for all other trades, such as masonry, telephone systems, and plumbing. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensuring that all assigned systems within an adult correctional facility and support buildings are maintained in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Servicing and repairing potable and wastewater drainage systems, water heating systems, circulating loops and fixtures, building wiring, conduit, security fencing and equipment, lighting, electrical door controls, and motors.
  • Repairing commercial kitchen equipment and making minor repairs to buildings both interior and exterior.
  • Servicing and repairing HVAC systems and controls.
  • Supervising the work of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labor (including offenders) and assisting with completing assigned tasks.
  • Providing support to other staff members performing trade skills during preventive maintenance and/or other duties assigned by the supervisor, as deemed necessary.
