District Five is one of six districts of the New Mexico Department of Transportation. The boundaries of District Five include the following counties: Torrance, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Taos, and San Juan. Employees in the District are responsible for providing the Maintenance, Construction, Engineering Support, and Business support measures of the Department to ensure the safety of the public as well as efficient highways.

This position is in Santa Fe and will be within the District Five Complex /Audit Support Section

Why does the job exist?

The purpose of this position is to audit construction project documentation on various Federally and State Funded Projects throughout the District 5 Area. This position assists with ensuring compliance with the Code of Federal Regulations and ensures the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) continues to receive Federal Funding for its construction projects.

How does it get done?

The Incumbent performs routine interim and final construction audits. The incumbent will review and interpret construction plans and contracts, process subcontracts, change orders, and monthly pay estimates, including final pay estimates.

Who are the customers?

NMDOT employees, contractors, and the Federal Highway Administration.

Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate will have:

-Knowledge of Site Manager and AP Construction;
-Microsoft and Excel knowledge; and
-The ability to read construction plans and contract interpretation.

Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Employment requires successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Business reference check and Driver's License verification are required, and employment is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage to include working with faxes, copiers and printers. May be required to work irregular hours and work extended hours.
